Acetate: A manufactured fiber in which
the
fiber-forming substance
is
cellulose acetate. Acetate fabrics are fast-drying, wrinkle and shrinkage
resistant, crisp or soft in hand depending upon the end use, and luxurious
in appearance.
Acrylic: A manufactured fiber in which the fiber-forming substance is
any long chain synthetic polymer composed of 85% by weight of acrylonitrile
units. Because acrylic fabrics are thermoplastic, fabrics may be heat-set
for wrinkle resistance and to provide permanency to pleats. Acrylic fabrics
have low moisture absorbency and dry relatively quickly.
Aesthetics: In textiles, properties perceived by touch and sight,
such as hand, color, luster, drape and texture of fabrics or garments.
